I hope there's more of this in the future, and I hope somehow there is more on Kiyomaro as well, where we could get a glimpse of what life is like for him without Gash now. I know he has friends now, but still... He was my favorite character.
As for Gash, I feel sorry for him. It's so sad that his closest friends that fought with him when they were in the human world just kind of brush him off, but hey, they're still kids. It's understandable.
Gosh.. I missed this series!
Hehee, I am a big Kiyomaro fan as well, so yeah. At least it's canon now that when Gash really needs him, Kiyomaro can/will appear? (I wonder if it works in reverse). It's certainly Gash's strongest bond though; when he thinks of friendship, the first person that pops up is Kiyomaro in his head.
I like how Raiku-sensei really writes the "kid" aspect well; yeah, it stinks that his friends aren't as close to him anymore (I was kinda sad when Tio said "That's why we don't hang out with you anymore; you never change!" .... though it parallels Kiyomaro's fond comment about Gash in the End, and how he just accepts Gash anyway he is.)
I was kinda sad that the manga never really resolves how sad Gash feels about being lonely. I *know* Gash talked about how friendship is deep and true friends are people who are going to stand by you, even if they're not around, and I have a feeling that all his friends would come and help him, if he really needed it ...
It'd be nice if they stood by him even if he doesn't. *sigh*. Or noticed how sad he was. T__T But eh, that's what we have fandom for, right? To resolve these questions. XD
I really miss the series too. This chapter has set off an intense longing to reread the whole thing. Gaaaah.
Ffffff. Since there's no linking allowed, want to give me a quick run-down of the highlights? *u* I love it when completed mangas have little epilogue type things.

A Quick Summary (SPOILERS WITHIN!) part 1
Sure! I had to look around for a bit, before I remembered the name of the primary scanners. But it is out there. *nod nod nod*
But anyway, it opens out with a little demon looking up at the special school that Gash and Co. now attend. He's apparently very poor and scavenging for food to feed him and his big sister. And yup, you know he'll play a part later. XD
Meanwhile, Gash is studying under Earth, and goofing off by randomly casting spells. Earth's not pleased please because A) Gash can fry him, and B) he can't counter because Gash is holding this wand that nullifies any spells around him in a 50 meter vicinity. This wand is given to the king as a protective instrument; only the demon holding the wand (normally the king) can cast spells.
We find out that Gash's life as king isn't very fun. For one thing, Earth now addresses him by his title, which he doesn't like. Another thing is school life is a bit alienating. The teacher is always apologizing when Gash has a question, most of the students live in fear of Zeon coming after them if they do anything weird to Gash, and Gash can't play with Tio, Umagon, or Koruru after school because he has kingship classes. Even playing with Vulcan isn't the same because they don't have candy boxes in the Makkai. Gash has to make a pseudo-Vulcan out of a weird shaped gourd! XD
Fed up with this, Gash decides to run off (with a nice wink to the old series ... he flies off with his cloak, but he's not wearing anything underneath, so all the other demons are running around going "GAAAH! THE KING IS NEKKKIIIID!")
Gash meets up with the demon kid in the first panel. It turns out that his name is Mumu. Mumu is again scavenging for food, and of course Gash (concealing his identity as the king) goes and makes friends by giving Mumu the other half of his uneaten sandwich. They then go to Mumu's box-hut and Gash gets to meet Mumu's sister.
Instead, his big sister really a doll (it makes sense in context).
Gash is puzzled and feels bad. He promises to come back with more food later. As he leaves, there this hulking shadow in the background. dundundun!
When Gash comes the next day, Mumu is less than welcoming, and runs up and snatches the spell-negating wand that Gash has been carrying around. (One wonders what Earth is doing, since Gash is skipping his classes. XD)
Mumu runs and gives it to this big hulking demon. When Gash asks why, Mumu's backstory comes out. It's kinda tragically weird, as only Raiku-sensei really ever gets.
Long story short, Mumu and his (real) sister never had enough food, but his sister never gave up hope that one day the king would come and give them food, but well ... then she died, leaving Mumu with her doll, which he pretends is really her.
Um. Yeah. :( Sad AND creepy.
Turns out, big Hulking Demon (named Giza) promised he'd give Mumu money if he got Gash's wand, and Mumu was going to use the money to move into a big house and buy food for his sister. T__T
Of course, it's at this point Giza turns on them both, blasting them with attacks and telling Mumu that A) no money B) he was only using him.
Gash, of course, objects, but unfortunately, he can't protect himself because Giza now has the wand, and of course, Gash can't use any spells. Despite this though, Gash doesn't give up or even stop when Giza turns on Mumu and talks trash about friendship.
Yeah, if you know the manga by now, you know that well Gash gets all angry, complete with sparkly eyes, and he defends Mumu with his own body.
To make things worse, Giza now is wanting to kill Gash because he wants to be the next king (um, did no one tell him that the kingship doesn't work that way? XD I think the next in line is Brago ... but anyways). So, here we are at the climax, Giza is preparing to fire off his biggest spell, which Gash is defenseless against ...

A Quick Summary (SPOILERS WITHIN!) part 2
Or ... is he?
At this point, I started squeeing because yes, I am a Kiyomaro fan, and woooo, I wondered when it'd get back to him. XD I love that he uses the old "set" line. But you can guess what happens next.
Giza gets a Bao Zakeruga to the face, and Happy Ending time! Gash takes Mumu to his class and introduces him back to his friends. XD
And Kiyomaro? X3 Well, he looks like he's doing well too:
Though technically, he doesn't really leave his human world, it's canon now that he can appear when Gash needs him to ... so yeah. There are new fandom possibilities.
Anyways, I liked the little glimpse back into the Makkai. The comic didn't resolve a lot of questions; I feel that Gash probably still is very unhappy, because life as a king seems to be a bit lonely. But well, that also gives room for more stories to grow in, though I don't know if Raiku sensei will ever really return to this world.
Also, it hints that the Makkai has other problems, such as abject poverty to deal with, which is interesting. Hmm.
I would have liked to see other characters too, and how they were doing, but yeah, I did enjoy the small glimpse. And it's nice to know that Kiyomaro and Gash's bond still holds true.
Hope this helps!

Re: A Quick Summary (SPOILERS WITHIN!) part 2
difdjfhfghgjf that is amazing thank yooooou *u*
You were quite in-depth, actually, haha. It would be nice if Raiku did a little more with this, even just as extra... epilogue-y things, but it seems sort of unlikely. :C
At least he's leaving us some room to imagine?
Ok, I actually read this chapter a long time ago, but I only recently been checking lj a lot more (after not checking/updating in years)
omg, I miss this series so much, and I literally squeed out loud when I read this chapter, and I was, I admit, tearing up a little <3
*waves hi, if you're still checking lj*
Gash looks so cute! (is ignoring the comments b/c I don't want to be spoiled)
Hehe, good idea, but come back after you read it. :)
Great view I recently hit on your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my incipient comment. I donât know what todiscloseexcept that I have enjoyed reading. Correct blog. I will keep visiting this blog very each.
its nice to see some activty on here again
Ahhhhhhhhhh! Kiyomaro was so cool! :> It took me a few hours to find the actual chapter but it was worth it. It's kinda sad that Gash's friends don't spend much time with him but then there's hope for Kiyomaro appearing more for Gash. It's a short epilogue but Raiku really knows how to get people's attention.
Well I just found out abou this update today. And it's the reason why I actually created this account.
I was shocked to see that there was a one shot about Zatch and his life in the mamodo world after he became king.
What really shocked me though is that the fanfictions made about Zatch Bell being king, actually weren't far off, including mine...I guessed alot of it right before ever laying eyes on this one shot...not Zatch's friends giving him the cold shoulder though, that was harsh.
What's even more harsh is that Zatch is kind've...idk a ruler that is still learning sort of thing. THere is still poverty in the mamodo world for the children, I would think that Zatch would try his best, don't get me wrong I bet he is, like always. Guess there's nothing you can do in the mamodo world, when you can't even make a proper Vulcan 300....oh and in the last chapter Of Zatch Bell it clearly shows that Zatch Bell had a Vulcan, what the heck happened to it? it's not like Zatch would let anything bad happen to the orginal!
Yay. Still a few people here... I'm guessing that the original vulcan may have fallen apart at some point. A paper box can't last for 1000 years. Atleast the second movie had Kiyomaro create that metal vulcan that lasted awhile. But yeah the Gaiden chapter, poor Gash is trying to learn everything he can and doesn't have time to be a kid much.
